The world is seen as a place were equal opportunities are important in society.
There are many races/ethnicity that live in the U.S. and many groups are trying
to find the opportunities that are out there. In the United States the
government try to make America as this place were freedom of speech and equal
rights are important and everyone is entitle to be treated as a human being and
to not label them as something else. I strongly feel that the main issue that is
wrong with the world is race because we are facing too many issue that are more
important but instead we are still looking at each other skin. Can we look pass
the black and white issue and look to the future?
What social justice means to me is when injustice is silent by the right to make
things better. What I mean by that is no one want injustice to go on so you
fight to produce good and eliminate the negative that is going on. Social
justice can happen everywhere, in your community and school because you have
that sense of doing the right thing and making a difference really make yourself
a better person and a activist in the world. Social Justice mostly happen in the
community you live in because there are many issues that local citizens want to
solve but the lack of support really make things difficult for citizens to do. I
found that in my community there are many issues that I would like to change
like for example the level of gangs and drug activity are becoming a huge
problem to children. Having them to grow up knowing that drugs and gangs are ok
to do is wrong and I want to reduce and make a change in my community because of
that. In schools after school matters because having a social club and different
activates really can get kids involve and get them doing something positive then
the alternative. This is a level of social justices and making more success like
this can really turn the community around. I feel that social justices can
happen every were if you just have faith, time, and have support then you can
achieve what you invasion.
The issues that we are facing in the U.S. is really impacting our society because
the future of America is really depending on the chooses that is decided between
the government and president. The world today is facing more problems that
revolve around the economy and economic situation but some people manage to
still look at other issues that is non important. Race is still a issue in the
United States because some people are looking at everything as black and white.
I feel that this is a waste of time because I really felt like we can look at
each other equal but instead we look at each other race and making assumption of
what we are known to do. Becoming bias to races really make yourself invisible
to issues because what ever someone make comments to anything you will agree on
and it make things tougher to move on and focus on the more important things. In
book that was produce by college teachers it states that, “Although the
civil rights movement had a significant effect on changing racial interactions
in this society, racism continues to plague the United States (Thompson & Neville, 1999).
President Clinton’s Race Advisory Board concluded that racism is one of the most
divisive forces in our society,
racial legacies of the past continue to haunt current policies and
practices that create unfair disparities between minority and majority groups,
racial inequities are so deeply ingrained in American society that they are
nearly invisible”.
Race should not matter to anyone because we are all created equal and have different
abilities to contribute to society. As African Americans some people may say
that we are that sense of becoming a distraction and are known for doing wrong.
We are always being compared to white people and the supreme nature that whites
have, to really understand this I
found a article that talks about the socialization between black and whites. Its
states that “Although theories of prejudice have been extensively catalogued,
empirical confrontations between competing theories are rare. “The present study
tested 2 major theoretical approaches to prejudice by Whites against Blacks:
realistic group conflict theory, which emphasizes the tangible threats Blacks
might pose to Whites' private lives; and a sociocultural theory of prejudice
termed symbolic racism, which emphasizes abstract, moralistic resentments of
Blacks, presumably traceable to preadult socialization”. Another quote that I
found that was interesting was
“Many supporters of Barrack Obama hoped his election as America's first
black president might herald an era of post-racial politics, but race has been
an issue his administration just can't seem to avoid".
In conclusion I found that race will not stop if we do not address the issue and
make it known that we should look beyond black and white. There are more
important things that we need to address other than this. Race is not a factor
but it is a important topic that some may want to discover.
